Walking toward April

Two weeks on foot through a stretch of country I have only ever driven past.

I am going to walk for two weeks in May. The route is not a famous trail. It is a stretch of road and field I have driven past dozens of times without ever stopping, and I want to know what is on it.

I will be carrying a small pack and a notebook. I will be staying with strangers some nights and in a tent on others. I am giving myself permission to be slow, and to be wrong about most of what I expect to find.

How you can pray

I am asking the Standing Ones for three specific things this trip.

The first is that I would be safe on the road. Drivers in this part of the country are not used to people on foot.

The second is that conversations with strangers would be open on both sides. I am not going to convert anyone or be converted. I am going to listen.

The third is harder to write down. It is that I would not arrive somewhere I am not meant to be, and that I would have the discernment to know the difference.

If you would like to be on the list, join the Standing Ones here. I will send a short message before I leave, and a longer one when I am home.
