Douglas Camp Meeting Douglas, MA
Boston Jesus Gathering
Prepare the way
This is the 3rd year now that we've been to Boston for the Jesus Gathering there. It's been held at one of the camp sites used during the great awakening where Charles Finny and others preached. It still has that feel of a place set aside for the Lord’s work.
But the folks of the area are desperate to see the Lord move again in a powerful way and have been preparing the way and laying a foundation for him to do just that as the next generation of believers are bringing a fresh fire and beginning to see the breakthrough they've longed for.
A few young college students and recent graduates have been seeing God stirring in the many colleges in Boston with small church and discipleship groups are beginning to pop up all over🔥
Speaking about sowing into the next generation, it's always a joy to see our kiddos going to work at these gatherings. Phoebe was able to pray and bless quite a few folks and would come back and report what God was been speaking to her❤️
Zoe and Kiah continue to deepen relationships and build up their friends. It's nice to have a group of young folks that they see sporadically, it helps them recognize growth in themselves and others. Sometimes when we are in the same groups all the time it's hard to see the slow and steady changes that are happening in our lives.
Amber and I were able to make a few new amazing friends on the trip as well. One guy has been doing home church (something very near to our heart) since the 80s which is very rare to find. We find it unusual when we find anyone that has been doing it longer than us, let alone twice as long! He just wrote a book that I'm just starting on and am sure will be a great read. It's called “Wind” by Matthew Chapman and you can find it on Amazon.
Another friend we got to pour in to felt like she had missed God's voice on her calling, and the enemy really had been trying to gum up the works and tell her things were messed up beyond the Lord's repair. We declared God's lovingkindness and victory over her life. I'm excited to see how the Lord continues to develop her for advancing the kingdom. If God can get Jonah where he wanted Him, surely he can get us back on track!
As we arrived, I shared with the rest of the family that my goal was to focus on the Lord's lovingkindness and to be in rest. Well, I got plenty of opportunities to be tested😂 I locked the keys in the van somehow, and one of the van wheels did not get tightened by the guys that rotated the tires before we left. Instead of complaining like my flesh was screaming for, I thanked the Lord in both circumstances for His lovingkindness even in the situation I was in. Both times, He was faithful to deliver us and give the wisdom needed to get things taken care of without having to spend funds or a large chunk of time.🕊️.
Declaring His kindness when in a pickle has been a growing experience for me, and even today sometimes it comes out too sarcastically, but I believe it. He is the Lord of all, and has shown us He is faithful and worthy. His kingdom is like the pearl of great value Jesus tells us about. It is worth it, no matter how costly❤️.
